STRUCTURAL MEMBRANES 2025

IS006 - Numerical Methods and Modeling for Lightweight Structures

Organized by: A. Goldbach (TUM, Germany), K. Sautter (BPR Consult, Germany) and V. Singer (TUM, Germany)
Keywords: computational analysis, design process, formfinding, integrated design and analysis, lightweight design and analysis, modeling, numerical methods, parametric design and analysis, simulation
The session on “Numerical Methods and Modeling for Lightweight Structures” is targeting the important field of numerical modeling of lightweight structures such as tensile structures, grid-shells or tensegrity structures, as well as their analysis. Within the scope of this session lies the process of numerical description and modeling from a geometrical and structural point of view, including interactive and parametric design processes. Moreover, flexible membrane structures and their behavior under extreme loading conditions are a focus of this session.
